Mixing
From multitracks to a stereo mix that holds together on phones, car speakers and studio monitors: in our 20 m² control room you work with an engineer who respects your arrangement and explains technical choices in plain language.

Mixing is where separate recordings become a song. At Oaklandledger in Amsterdam we focus on clarity between vocals and instruments, bass that survives small speakers and dynamics that suit your genre — not a one-size preset that makes every track sound identical.
You can send stems after Band recording or Vocal recording with us, or from your own DAW anywhere in the Netherlands. For file organisation see delivering stems for mixing; for feedback and revisions see below and terms and conditions.
Process
Brief
Send stems, tempo, references and deadline via contact. We confirm scope and price (€195 or €760) within 1 working day.
Tech check
We verify sample rate, headroom and folder layout. Missing details get a short follow-up via [email protected] so mix time goes to music, not detective work.
Mix and preview
Balance, EQ, compression, space and effects are built per song. You receive a stereo preview to check at home and on earbuds.
Revisions and export
Up to 2 revision rounds based on concrete notes. Then we deliver the approved mix as WAV; optional finishing via Mastering.
Who this mixing service suits
Artists with a single ready for streaming and a vinyl test, bands that want one neutral mix pass after a session in our 36 m² live room, producers who nailed the rough mix but lack time for the last ten percent: all typical jobs. We do not quote one flat fee for full albums of ten or more songs — discuss larger projects upfront so planning and EP bundles stay realistic.
Mixing does not replace recording. If takes are out of time or vocals are consistently off pitch, plug-ins alone will not fix it. We then talk about extra recording or comping — honesty saves revision rounds. Pure vocal capture stays with Vocal recording; full band tracking with Band recording.
What you deliver
Send structured WAV or AIFF stems: one folder per song, consistent names, one project sample rate (often 44.1 or 48 kHz, or 96 kHz if you recorded here). No mp3 intermediates unless we agree explicitly. Leave headroom on the master bus — clipped drums or vocals limit what we can recover.
- Rough mix or reference in a separate
REFfolder. - Text file with BPM, key and arrangement notes.
- Clear marking of keeper takes when you send multiple doubles.
The full checklist is in delivering stems for mixing. When unsure, call 020 261 4890 or email [email protected] before you upload.
How a mix pass runs
We start by listening on main monitors and a second reference pair — what feels open on large speakers must stay readable on earbuds. Then we set drums and bass as the foundation, place vocals and lead instruments, and fill the spectrum with support parts without masking.
Effects and space are built per group: sometimes a short room on drums, delay on guitars, little reverb on rap vocals so articulation stays forward. Every choice can be undone in the session; we log major decisions so revisions stay focused.
Revisions and feedback
You get a preview when the mix is in balance, not halfway through an experiment. Give feedback with timestamps («1:12 bass slightly less», «chorus vocal 1 dB forward») instead of vague «make it louder». Within 2 rounds we adjust timing, level and tone — not a full arrangement rewrite or new recordings without a new order.
Revisions start after you have heard the preview on at least two systems (for example monitors and phone). Extra rounds or rush outside Tue–Fri 10–20, Sat 10–18 opening hours are by agreement and may be invoiced separately; see terms and conditions and FAQ.
Delivery formats
By default we deliver a stereo mix as 24-bit WAV at your source sample rate unless you ask for conversion for a specific platform. We do not hand over the DAW session unless agreed upfront and quoted — the mix is tuned to our plug-in chain in the control room.
Instrumental and vocal-up versions are available if you mention them in the brief. Release masters go through Mastering, including loudness and format choices for streaming, explained in master loudness for streaming.
Turnaround and scheduling
A single song is usually scheduled within a few working days after complete delivery, depending on the queue. EPs up to five tracks at €760 get a joint timeline so tone stays coherent across songs — send all stems together or on a fixed schedule we agree.
Rush is possible when the calendar allows; expect a shorter feedback window from your side. We keep archives for 12 months: download finals within that period. After that, storage may be deleted; backups remain your responsibility.
Pricing and VAT
Listed rates include 21% VAT. Per track you pay €195; for an EP up to five songs €760 applies — cheaper than five separate singles when you mix the whole project in one go.
| Option | Price incl. VAT |
|---|---|
| Single track | €195 |
| EP up to 5 tracks | €760 |
Business clients receive invoices from Oaklandledger B.V.; B2B payment may be 14 days. A 30% deposit can apply on larger jobs — we state that in the quote. Cancellation and rescheduling: terms and conditions.
Not included in the mix fee
Editing bad takes, tuning as a substitute for re-singing, producing new instruments, sample clearance and platform distribution sit outside standard mixing. Full film or podcast series dialogue is a different service — see podcast & voice-over on services.
If you want mastering right after the mix, we plan Mastering as the next step; combine briefs so loudness targets stay aligned. Questions on rights and use of your material: legal notice and privacy policy.

FAQ
Can I send only the vocal?
We mix complete songs from stems, not a standalone vocal chain as the final product. If you only have vocal tracks, include instrumentals or stems for context. Pure recording stays Vocal recording.
How many revisions are included?
2 rounds after the first preview, provided feedback is specific. Major arrangement changes or new recordings fall outside those rounds; we quote anew.
Do you accept Logic or Ableton sessions?
We prefer stemmed WAV delivery for stability across DAWs. Native sessions are sometimes possible by agreement — see delivering stems. Without prior agreement we mix from stems.
When do I pay?
Small jobs often after mix approval; on EPs or rush, 30% deposit may apply. Business invoices: 14 days. Details in terms and conditions.
Do you mix jazz or classical?
Yes, when stems are tidy and you share expectations on dynamics and space. Send references; we avoid aggressive limiting unless you ask for a specific medium.
