1. What a cookie or similar technique is
This page explains what cookies are, which of them appear on oaklandledger.click, what they store and how you set your preferences. Cookies are small text files a browser writes to your device when you open a site. They can make a site work, harden it, remember a preference or measure use.
Article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act also covers other trackers, such as the browser's local storage (localStorage). We treat them the same way: we do not place them without a valid exemption or consent. This text sits next to the privacy policy and the banner you see on a first visit.
2. What this site does and does not store
oaklandledger.click uses a single first-party tracker: the record of your cookie choice. That value holds no name, e-mail address or IP address. We set no third-party trackers: no visitor statistics, no advertising network, no embedded map or video, no share button. Fonts, images and the site script come from our own domain.
Motion on the page and display choices in the stylesheet write nothing down. Technical logs at TransIP B.V. are not cookies; they are described in the privacy policy. The form on contact does not set a cookie of its own; the contents travel through FormSubmit to our mailbox, which is a transfer, not a cookie.
3. The five categories
Strictly necessary
These techniques keep the basic site working, including remembering your choice. They fall under the exemption in Article 11.7a of the Telecommunications Act and cannot be switched off in the banner.
